Moms Parenting Alone
July 4 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am
An event every week that begins at 9:00 am on Saturday, repeating until August 29, 2020
Moms Parenting Alone is a group of moms who have children but may not have ever married, are divorced or widowed, have adopted or are fostering children on their own, or whose significant other is deployed, incarcerated or travelling on a regular basis. We encourage our moms to bring a friend or mentor who may or may not be parenting alone. There are about 12 moms/mentors but not everyone joins us each week. Some of the moms bring their children (childcare provided) while others choose to let their teen/tween children stay home.
We meet Saturday mornings at the Sussex Campus between 9:00 am and 11:00 am. We have breakfast (provided) between 9:00 and 9:30 and then between 9:30 and 11:00 am watch a DVD series followed by discussion. Study guides are provided and homework is not assigned or expected. We are a very casual group.
While the moms meet in one room the kiddos go into one of the other classrooms to have fun with the approved childcare volunteers (provided).
Our mission is to “Thrive”. The definition of the word “thrive” is “to progress toward or realize a goal despite or because of circumstances”. Parenting alone is a challenge to say the least! Loneliness, frustration and exhaustion come with the territory. As a group, we remind each other that we are so loved by our heavenly Father. And we share that love with each other. We also remind each other that we have value and purpose in God’s plan, two things that are often forgotten in our busy schedules. The DVD series that we watch are varied but are typically focused on dealing with the challenges of life. These series are faith based but are not bible studies as such and we never require homework.
There is no commitment to join us each week or to pay for anything. We just want you to come as you are and allow us to share God’s love and blessings with you.
